“Umpqua” is a local native American word meaning “full belly” and the Umpqua River valley lives up to that name! Our smallmouth bass trips take place from the town of Elkton down to the top of tide water near my small home-town of Scottsburg, Oregon. My “cabin” is located right on the river - with my own private dock. This section is difficult to get to unless you’re blessed enough to live here! Early in the season we have abundant striped bass up to 20 lbs. and 4-5 lb. largemouth in the summer and early fall.
The Umpqua is arguably the best smallmouth bass river in the country. I expect two semi-knowledgeable anglers to catch 150-200 bass per day from June thru the end of August on full day trips with me. They’re also incredibly fun and productive for families. Kids easily catch bass on light spin tackle or fly gear (provided).
If they get tired of catching fish, our water temperatures are ideal for a quick swim or dip in the water and we always find an eagle or Osprey to feed along the way. You can expect to see other wildlife on your adventure, such as black bear, black tailed deer, otters, beavers, wild turkey, and a wide variety of waterfowl. They all share the river with my guests and I most every day!
This is where striper dreams are made! Conventional tackle and fly gear are the tools we use to entice multiple striped bass during our evening or night fishing adventures. I also offer conventional tackle/bait trips for stripers where my guests start our trip catching live bait that we use to entice stripers at night. It’s an extremely effective and very fun technique that’s guaranteed to leave you speechless with the ferocity of the takes!
I offer Largemouth and smallmouth bass trips on the best coastal lakes on the west coast (Tenmile, Siltcoos, Tahkenitch, Woahink, and Eel). These trips are out of my 20’ Ranger “Comanche” bass boat and can easily accommodate three adults (guide with two guests) I provide all the tackle and gear, or your welcome to use your own. I use my decades of experience and the very best electronics and technology to get my guests into bass. I specialize in fishing glide baits, top water, and soft plastics to entice bass that average 3-5 pounds with occasional bass in 6-8 lb. range.
I own a home on the main channel of Guntersville Lake between Scottsboro and Guntersville, Alabama. Alabama is a bass anglers heaven on earth! There is no place like Alabama bassin’ and if you’re a serious largemouth bass angler, you owe it to yourself to experience some of the very best bass lakes Alabama offers. I fish Northern Alabama bass lakes for Largemouth, Crappie, and Catfish.
